Its time to talk about easy entertaining for Easter and Spring. ?In my family we celebrate Easter and one of the best ways I know to have a wonderful Easter when you are the hostess is to delegate. ?I?m not joking! ?When our daughter who is now in early elementary school with brothers in middle in high school, was an infant, I hosted a fabulous Easter brunch. ?I had 25 people, we had to set up tables and chairs, cousins from out town, an egg hunt out in the yard, it was fantastic! ?I knew that because I had my little baby girl, I wouldn?t be able to pull off the kind of holiday event I wanted to have all on my own. ?So here are my tips to help you focus on easy entraining for Easter and Spring:
1. ?Choose a Menu: I found a holiday menu in a women?s magazine that was just perfect for our needs. ?While not totally child centric, it was certainly family friendly with items anyone could easily prepare.
2. ?Choose Seasonal Decor: After all, the event was at my house so the first task was to make sure our home was clean and then well decorated. The next natural step was for me to take on the festivities because it is so easily tied to your home?s decor.
3. ?Serve the Main Course: Always the cornerstone of the holiday meal, its only appropriate the hostess prepare the main course and in this case its always an Easter ham.
And then delegate the rest! Not just ?Hey will you bring some mashed potatoes?? and end up with a box of Potato Buds. ?But instead, take that menu from your favorite women?s magazine and simply share one recipe for each family attending to bring. ?Copy, fax, email, whatever it takes.?By staying focused to have your home clean and decorated, by making sure you?ve planned for the fun, you can then let the rest of the day unfold with success.
If you are going to be hosting a spring holiday, notably Easter this weekend, get yourself a ready made menu and table decor idea, figure out how to delegate it to everyone who is coming over, and simply watch the magic begin. ?I promise you will have a wonderful Easter holiday that you remember and cherish, actually enjoy it as much as your guests will. ?I hope this helps you focus on easy entertaining so you can have wonderful Easter brunch and would love to know?how do you handle delegating tasks when you entertain?
