Nola Takes Over the Office My Room | Apartment Therapy

My husband and I wanted to put personal touches all over our first baby's nursery and had a very small area with which to decorate. The area used to house a computer desk and chair.

I guess if her room had a theme, it would be african animals and home made accents. We found the frames at a flea market and repainted them to fit the artwork that I painted for her while I was still pregnant. I painted all of the paintings in the room (except for a Simon Combs print and the elephant with the balloons), my husband, my sister and I made the mobile, and my other sister and I made the banner. We also made the pocket bookshelves and they work perfectly with the small space.

We splurged on the crib and the glider (Stokke and Dutailier) and after much searching for the perfect light, we found some string LED lights leftover from Christmas decorations and decided that was perfect! One of my favorite accents is the frame that holds our pictures (family, the day my husband and I were married, her ultrasound photos and baby shower invitation, and my husband's dog tags).

My other favorite accent is the edamame pillow. Nola's nickname was dubbed "edi" when I was only a few months along because of my tiny bump and addiction to edamame. We're extremely happy with her space; she definitely seems to love it too!
