The sun will reach its northern most extent in the afternoon sky today as summer solstice arrives at 6:09pm . These are the longest days of summer this week and the start of the hottest time of year.
Today we?ll again have highs ?hold? in the low 90?s thanks to morning clouds and afternoon storms chances. The storm chance is only around 20% but clouds will help areas around the rain keep daytime highs in check some. It?ll be another breezy day with winds SE 15-20 mph.
On Thursday a cold front reaches into north Texas by afternoon. This will help trigger storms again, about a 20% chance for the metro area but double that along the Red River. Highs will get into the low 90?s again, it won?t be as breezy.
That?s it for rain decent rain chances for awhile as high pressure quickly builds in from the southwest and brings the summer heat. Its been almost 270 days since the last 100? day at DFW, we?ll likely have one by Monday or Tuesday of next week. It?ll be a very hot weekend; highs will get into the upper 90?s both Saturday and Sunday with lots of sunshine.
